Volunteer Arlington to Host 8th Annual MLK Day of Service
Arlington, VA – Volunteer Arlington, a public-private partnership between the Leadership Center of Arlington and Arlington County, will hold its eighth annual MLK Day of Service event on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Lead Sponsors are Amazon and Nestle.
The National Day of Service remembers Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his commitment to building a beloved community. There will be a variety of volunteer projects that will support more than 20 Volunteer Arlington partner organizations.
The MLK Day of Service is a free event that is open to the public. Pre-registration is preferred and can be found at volunteerarlington.org/mlk. Walk-ins are welcome at Washington-Liberty High School and can join opportunities as space allows.
“Volunteer Arlington’s MLK Day of Service has become a community tradition,” said Lisa Fikes, President & CEO of the Leadership Center of Arlington. “It is a day of remembrance as well as of hope, offering individuals, groups, and businesses an opportunity to listen, learn, and act for others.”
On January 18, check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Washington-Liberty High School, and the first 750 people to check in for the event will receive an MLK Day of Service t-shirt.
Then, everyone is invited to attend an opening program in the Washington-Liberty High School auditorium from 9:00 – 9:30 a.m. During the opening program, Volunteer Arlington will also recognize the 2025 recipient of its Beloved Community Award.
Following the opening program, volunteers will proceed to their projects, either at Washington-Liberty High School or offsite.
