Volunteer Arlington Launches “Time to Serve” Campaign
Arlington, VA – Volunteer Arlington, a public-private partnership between the Leadership Center for Excellence and Arlington County, is launching a Time to Serve campaign.
Volunteer Arlington is excited to invite organizations and businesses to join us in taking the “Time to Serve Pledge” and offer employees at least 8 hours of paid time off per year to do community service.
Organizations that take the pledge will be highlighted at volunteerarlington.org/timetoserve and can have the opportunity to share their volunteer stories with the community at large through Volunteer Arlington’s communications.
“Volunteer Arlington works with more than 375 local nonprofit and Arlington County organizations who are looking for skilled volunteers who are committed to a cause,” said Lisa Fikes, President and CEO of the Leadership Center for Excellence. “Through this campaign, we hope to eliminate any time barriers that might keep individuals from connecting with our partners and giving back to their community. We also hope to empower businesses to let their employees follow their passions for civic engagement, and in the process, know their employer encourages and celebrates that work.”
To learn more about employee volunteer programs and the many ways organizations can have an impact in our community, join Volunteer Arlington for its upcoming Listen and Learn virtual event about the Time to Serve campaign. On Wednesday, February 28 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., you can hear from featured speakers including:
- Kathy Spangler, Director of Serve Virginia;
- Mark Schwartz, County Manager, Arlington County;
- Karen Rosales, President and CEO, Arlington Community Federal Credit Union;
