Elizabeth Jones Valderrama to Receive 2023 Torch Award for Ethical Leadership

Arlington, VA – The Leadership Center for Excellence has selected Elizabeth Jones Valderrama to receive the 2023 Torch Award for Ethical Leadership, presented by Dominion Energy.

Jones Valderrama is a Collective member and Executive Director of OAR of Arlington, Alexandria, and Falls Church. OAR is a community-based nonprofit organization that envisions a safe and thriving community where those impacted by the legal system enjoy equal civil and human rights. Jones Valderrama has built a culture at OAR that honors the dignity of OAR’s participants. 

Even outside of her work with OAR, Jones Valderrama has dedicated her life to strengthening the community and achieving racial justice and liberation. She consistently demonstrates a high commitment to integrity.

“Elizabeth Jones Valderrama embodies her values in all that she is, and all that she does,” said Lisa Fikes, President and CEO of the Leadership Center for Excellence. “Her desire for racial justice governs her personal and professional life, and we are honored to recognize her as the 2023 recipient of the Torch Award for Ethical Leadership.”

Price will present the award at the Leadership Center for Excellence’s annual Leadership Summit on Thursday, May 18, 2023. The Summit is a half-day leadership development program and also serves as the culmination of the Leadership Center for Excellence’s Class of 2023 programs, including Leadership Arlington and Ignite Young Professionals.
