JERUSALEM SOLOMON
BOARD OF DIRECTOR
Jerusalem (Jerry) Solomon serves as the Director of Communication and Public Engagement for the Arlington County Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR). In her role, she and the members of her team support communications and public engagement efforts across all DPR units. This includes community outreach, marketing, media relations, engagement, event planning, and more. In her previous role as Director of Public Engagement in Arlington County’s Office of the County Manager, she designed opportunities for community feedback, facilitated large and small group conversations, worked on building intentional outreach and engagement strategies, and conducted analysis and reporting to help inform County decision makers. She and her team also developed public engagement tools and resources, conducted trainings, and supported communications and public engagement staff across all County departments.
Prior to joining Arlington County in 2017, Jerry was a former teacher who worked to create meaningful and safe spaces for engagement in the classroom— leaning into creative strategies that allowed for fun and accessible environments! Along with serving as a board member for the Leadership Center for Excellence, she is an ambassador for PathForward and plays in the Arlington Community Orchestra.
Jerusalem graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2013 where she got her B.A. in Mass Communications and then from Louisiana State University in 2016 where she got her Master’s in Public Administration.
